Unexplained Infertility – Causes and Solutions

It is believed that approximately 10% of the global infertile population suffers from unexplained infertility. These women can’t get pregnant, even though medically all seems to be well.

A lot is talked about infertility, but not enough about unexplained infertility. Maybe this is because people feel frustrated when things cannot be explained. If infertility is already frustrating enough, imagine not knowing why. Medically there seems to be no reason to not get pregnant and yet, those suffering from unexplained infertility never get pregnant and they never know why.

What’s behind unexplained infertility

Well, no one knows for sure. That is why it’s called “unexplained”. However, there can be several reasons behind it.

  1. Medical causes that have not been detected, like ovulation in the wrong time, for example.
  2. Epigenetics of sperm seems to be believed a great cause of this.
  3. Non-reproductive medical issues that have an effect in fertility i.e. celiac disease
  4. Stress or bad nutrition
  5. Mild endometriosis
  6. Bad interaction between the vaginal environment and sperm
  7. Poor egg quality (or poor sperm quality).

Getting pregnant with unexplained infertility

So now the question remains: How do I get pregnant? Well, as you have read already, it mostly depends on the real reason you are not getting pregnant. However, there are of course a few things you can do to help:

  1. Do some lifestyle changes.
Do you eat a lot of junk food? Never exercise? Do you smoke? Drink a lot? Are you too stressed? Do you have anxiety? Do you drink a lot of coffee?…..
Remember that a healthy lifestyle always improves your chances of getting pregnant. In fact, it improves your life overall. So take a look at your lifestyle and decide if there is anything you can do to improve it.
