Your body’s pH

The pH of your body indicates if you are going to be healthy, ill, young or old, so take care of it.

pH marks the amount of hydrogen in your body (or anywhere else, like the pool water or the earth of your plants).
The scale goes from 0 to 14. If the pH is anywhere between 0 to 7, the pH is acidic. If it is in the 7 to 14 range, it’s alkaline.
The natural pH of our body is slightly alkaline. Somewhere around 7.3 to 7.45. Your nutrition is the most important factor to determine your pH. But keep in mind, a food’s taste has nothing to do with the pH it will give you. A lemon, for example, seems to be pure acid but it is actually the best food to alkalize your body.

What happens when your pH is too acidic

An acidic pH (anything under 7) slowly destroys your body from the inside and, after a while, from the outside. In fact, illnesses always come together with a low pH. If you were to measure the pH of people with severe illnesses, you would find all of them would have a low pH. People with cancer, for example, usually have a highly acidic pH and low oxygen levels. Cancer cells thrive in such an environment.

Symptoms of an acidic body pH

  • anxiety
  • diarrhea
  • tiredness
  • insomnia
  • head ache
  • high blood pressure
  • feeling that you can’t breathe or lack of air

On a longer term the symptoms get worse:

  • Obesity and slow metabolism
  • Bladder and liver problems
  • Poor inmune system
  • Premature aging
  • Osteoporosis
  • Chronic fatigue
  • Mood changes
  • Poor digestion

If your pH keeps being acidic for too long, these long term symptoms can turn into serious illnesses.

Alkalizing your body

Fortunately there are a lot of foods that help your body get the right alkaline pH (apart from many other benefits). It always comes down to the same, though: having the right nutrition.
Amongst the foods with the highest alkaline powers we have: lemons, spinach, broccoli, artichokes, sprouts, leaves, cucumber, carrots, sea weed, asparagus, avocados, green tea, figs, mangos and papayas.

Slightly acidic for the body we have: commercial juices, cereals, eggs, fish, wholegrain rice and nuts.

And of course, amongst the highly acidic foods and therefore to be avoided: carbonated drinks, prepared food, cheese, white bread, chocolate, alcohol, sugar.

As a summary we could say that the best thing is to eat raw fruits and vegetables more than anything.
